What happens when you contact me?
Call me, text or email to discuss the problem and I'll tell you how I can help.
You can also arrange a WhatsApp video chat so your child or teen can meet me to check that they are happy to work with me.
If you decide to go ahead and book a first appointment?
I will ask you to send me via email any background information that would be helpful to have before we meet such as
- key events 0-6yrs
- recent events
- observable behaviour changes
- any birth related issues
- anything relevant from your own childhood
First appointment
This is 90 minutes split between you and your child or teen, then them on their own to do an activity , exercise or to chat, then together again. It gives you the opportunity
- to learn more about how I work
- them the opportunity to decide if they want to commit to working together
- and me the chance to explain any of the methods I will use that will help you decide whether I am the right therapist for your child
Next steps?
I will email a suggested programme of sessions based on this first session but with flexibility to cover issues as they emerge as trust and rapport builds between us.
If you or your child decides they don't wish to continue or feel that what you have learnt from the first session is enough to make a few changes for now, then that's absolutely fine of course.
The sessions will include a number of different activities as well as talking because I find children talk more openly when they are doing something and the activity itself also reveals patterns which can help me guide them through making new choices and change patterns that aren't working for them. I specifically use art and lego, story cubes and picture cards.
Some children and teens find it easier to talk when they are outside walking so this is also an option.

What sort of issues can I help with?
Most clients book four or six one hour sessions to work on specific agreed areas such as
- confidence
- anxiety
- friendships,
- learning struggles
- sibling rivalry
- stress
- sleeping
- eating issues
When your child or teen comes to me I create an ‘open frame’ where they can talk, play music, do some art and craft, play with Lego or walk in the garden. I don’t believe direct questions work well, so I create an atmosphere of trust and curiosity where they can think about what they want and how they can achieve it.
What if they don't want to come even though you know they need help?
I have a couple of more lightweight, less 'therapy' type programmes for children who don't have a specific problem or those who need a more wide ranging approach. This also works quite well for children who don't think they have a problem.
Junior NLP & EFT Programme
This is a led programme, it is not therapy. Your child or young person will be taught many NLP and EFT techniques in an engaging and interactive way with exercises and questions, where they can use examples from their own life. They will learn:
Session 1
What is NLP?
Understanding how we process our world
Focusing on what we want
Session 2
Overcoming limiting beliefs (the things that get in the way)
Accessing the skills to overcome blocks
Building confidence
Session 3
What is EFT
Tapping techniques for fear, anxiety, anger, low self-esteem
How to tap in school
Using EFT for resilience
Session 4
The Drama Triangle
How to be a problem solver
Personal issues addressed
The cost is £250 for the four one hour sessions.
Content is designed for school years 5- 8 for preparation to join Secondary School
Notes for the session are sent in advance so they can make notes directly on their workbook and so parents can see what we will be covering. Call me to discuss if this is the best programme for your child or teen.
