We're currently having a couple of en-suites put into our old house to relieve the strain on our bathroom as I offer residential courses in NLP, English Language teaching and we do Airbnb since our three older children have all left home. This has necessitated clearing four full bookcases that sat along the landing where the pipes are being laid. Well I don't know about your bookcases but ours date back to when the children were born and as both hubbie and I are dreadful hoarders they were stacked in two layers depth and height so there were literally hundreds to sort through.
In going through my books I found old Marketing and Market Research textbooks from Uni which reminded me how much more complex things were before the new age of Social Media and all the myriad of ways to engage with customers now - perhaps too many?! I stumbled upon old favourite children's books like Burglar Bill and some of the Mr Men classics. Lots of the books were hubbies too and we even had doubles that I didn't know about. Too many of the books hadn't been read and I remember so often having good intentions of re-reading the classics like Dickens and then giving up because of the small print.
Anyway the point of my post was that it's very easy to get sidetracked. I was under time pressure because Rob our plumber needed me to get everything moved and we just don't have the space to move all that number of books so I did have to do a cull. What to keep, what to take to the charity shop? Would some be useful for when grandchildren come along (hurry up kids- I can't wait!) and would any of them fetch any money on Ebay?
